We are closing up January and heading towards February… I cannot believe it! We have had a great month of cooperation at Holmes. We have practiced many ways of being cooperative and many classrooms have earned their COOPERATION spirit sticks. Ask your child all about it!
Our final activity for the month will be a collaborative project as a school. Each classroom read the book, Only One You and discussed how each person at Holmes is a special person with special gifts and when we all come together we make the world a better place. To show this, each child will receive a rock that they will make their own. They will create this special rock in art class with Mrs. Almer and Mrs. Andrews.
When they are done, they will add words or phrases that make the rock special. From there, we will put all the rocks together as a school to show our collaboration, team work, and commitment to make this world a better place. I cannot wait to show you the final product! A BIG thank you to Mike Rose Landscape and Irrigation for donating all the rocks to us for the project. We could not have done this without your generosity!
Ask your child all about this activity and other activities that we have been working on through our Be NICE initiative. We have now explored and practiced the words COURAGE, GRATITUDE, and COOPERATION. What a great place we get to come to each day!
